Making Appointments

When booking an appointment , will try our best to offer you one as soon as possible at a convenient time. You can choose which dentist you would like to see at the practice , but it may not always be possible to arrange this because the particular dentist may not have any available appointments.

Cancelling/Missed Appointment

We are an extremely busy practice and appointments are very precious, to keep up our reputation of an efficient appointment system we ask if you are unable to keep you appointment we require 24 hours notice so that we can offer the appointment to another patient, possibly someone in pain.

If you miss or cancel at short notice 2 consecutive appointments we may not be able to offer you further NHS appointments.

New patients who miss their 1st initial examination will not be seen or offered any further appointments at the practice.

At the end of your course of treatment, your dentist will discuss with you when you will need to see a dentist a again.

The practice follows guidelines issued by the National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE) on how often patients needs to see their dentist according to their oral health needs.

As part of our efficient service we offer a Reminder system to inform patients and families when they are next due for a dental examination.

In the past letters were the best form of notification, but now we have decided to move with the times and send a TEXT message or EMAIL informing you of an appointment is due, then to contact the surgery at your convenience to keep up with regular examinations, however if you dont have either of these, we will personally give you a telephone call and inform you this way and an appointment can be made at this time.

NHS dental charges from 1st April 2019

Band 1 course of treatment £23.80
This covers an examination, diagnosis (e.g. x-rays), advice on how to prevent future problems, a scale and polish if needed, and application of fluoride varnish or fissure sealant. If you require urgent care, even if your urgent treatment needs more than one appointment to complete, you will only need to pay one Band 1 charge.

Band 2 course of treatment £65.20
This covers everything listed in Band 1 above, plus any further treatment such as fillings, root canal work or if your dentist needs to take out one or more of your teeth.

Band 3 course of treatment £282.80
This covers everything listed in Bands 1 and 2 above, plus crowns, dentures and bridges.

Fees changed 14th December 2020.

Your Treatment costs explained:
The charge you pay depends on the treatment you need to keep your teeth and gums healthy. All charges apply to an overall course of treatment, and not the individual items within the course of treatment. You will only have to pay one charge for each course of treatment – even if you need to visit your dentist more than once to finish it. If you need more treatment within the same charge band (for example, an additional filling) within two months of completing a course of treatment, you do not have to pay anything extra.

You do not have to pay to have your dentures repaired, for having stitches out, or if your dentist has to stop blood loss. Neither do you have to pay if your dentist only needs to write out a prescription. (But if you pay for your prescriptions, you will pay the usual charge when you collect your medicine from your pharmacist). You may need to pay all, or some, of your treatment costs before you start a course of treatment.
